Cinco de Mayo is about one week away! What will you be doing on May 5th? I will most likely be working that day =( but I know I want to put together a Cinco de Mayo dinner just for my hubby and I!!
These were some of the ideas I found on the web that I will definitely put to use and you can too, whether its a small impromptu or a large event.
Decor & DIY:
Create your own fiesta garland (or papel picado)! All you need is brightly colored tissue paper, scissors, string and glue! And that’s it! Cost: $5.00ish and less! You may just have these things lying around the house. Click on the images for each tutorial.
Food & Drink:
What’s better than tacos for Cinco de Mayo? Nothing, unless there’s frozen strawberry margaritas around. Stock up on tacos, nachos and dip, empanadas and more!
Tip: Set aside a table in order to create a taco bar so your guests can create their own tacos-just the way they like it.
A good rule of thumb is to use bright, vibrant colors and prints. Cinco de Mayo is the day of Mexico’s victory over “France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War.” Therefore, this day is to celebrate Mexico’s history and vibrant culture. Take cues from the images below to share Mexico’s culture with your family and friends.
